TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 5.5 magnitude quake occurred close to Puerto Madero around midday Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor struck the region at 17:45 UTC (11:45 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 81 km southwest of Puerto Madero and occurred at a depth of 35 km.
