SARANGANI, SOCCSKSARGEN — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred near Sarangani on Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the region at 02:23 UTC (10:23 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 119 km southwest of Sarangani.

In the past week, there have been two tremors greater than magnitude 2.5 centered in the same region. The largest, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake, struck on Jul. 12, while the other, measuring 4.7, occurred on Jul. 16.
