SARANGANI, SOCCSKSARGEN — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred near Sarangani on Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 02:23 UTC (10:23 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 114 km south-southwest of Sarangani.

Several residents reported experiencing the quake in and around the San Isidro (Koronadal, South Cotabato) area according to the USGS DYFI report.

In the past week, there have been two earthquakes greater than magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake, struck on Jul. 12, while the other, measuring 4.7, occurred on Jul. 16.
