Update: Feb. 18 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake detected close to Koshima, Japan

A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded near Koshima around midday Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 02:27 UTC (11:27 local time), with its epicenter situated approximately 113 km south of Koshima and a depth of 32 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.0 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
