A 6.9 magnitude quake was detected near Bateria Tuesday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The tremor slammed the area at 13:59 UTC (21:59 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located approximately 12 km east of Bateria. Seismologists first reported it as a 7.0 event, but later downgraded it to 6.9.
