Sunday morning, a 5.3 magnitude quake was recorded near Baubau, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 02:45 UTC (10:45 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 609 km, with its epicenter roughly 186 km east of Baubau. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later upgraded to 5.3.
