MARE, Loyalty Islands Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded close to Tadine on Monday around midnight, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The tremor hit at 13:01 UTC (00:01 local time), with its epicenter situated roughly 268 km east-southeast of Tadine and a depth of 10 km.

Over the last week, there have been two tremors, greater than magnitude 2.5, nearby. The largest, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake, was detected close to Isangel five days ago, while a smaller 4.7 magnitude quake struck near Tadine on January 19.
