A 5.2 magnitude quake jolted close to South Sandwich Islands region around midnight Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor shook at 02:57 UTC (00:57 local time), with its epicenter of South Sandwich Islands region and a depth of 183 km.
