Earthquake hits area near San Antonio, Puerto Rico: 5.0 magnitude registered on July 24

SAN ANTONIO, Caguas — A 5.0 magnitude quake rattled close to San Antonio on Friday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which shook the region at 02:42 UTC (22:42 local time), was centered roughly 49 km north-northwest of San Antonio. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

Over the last week, there have been four tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby. The biggest, a 3.3 magnitude quake, was detected in the same region on Jul. 22.
