On Tuesday at 10:51 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a dust storm warning in effect until 11:30 a.m. for Cheyenne County.

“At 10:50 a.m., a dust channel was 5 miles south of Weskan, or 14 miles southwest of Sharon Springs, moving northeast at 55 mph,” says the NWS. “Other locations impacted by this dust channel include Arapahoe and Selkirk.”

“Dangerous life-threatening travel,” comments the NWS. “Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
