On Monday at 6:08 p.m. a dust storm warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 6:45 p.m. for Kit Carson County.
“At 6:08 p.m., a wall of dust was along a line extending from 6 miles southeast of Burlington to 10 miles south of Goodland to 12 miles northwest of Winona to 9 miles south of Monument, moving northeast at 50 mph,” says the NWS. “Dangerous life-threatening travel.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Colby, Goodland, Burlington, Brewster, Kanorado, Ruleton and Levant. This includes the following highways: Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 0 and 69. Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 439 and 450.
