On Friday at 8:59 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated dust advisory in effect until 10 p.m. for El Paso County.
“At 8:58 p.m., a dust channel was located along a thunderstorm outflow boundary between Deming and El Paso, moving south at 20 mph,” states the NWS. “This includes Interstate 10 in Texas between mile markers 1 and 50.”
Locations impacted by the advisory include Homestead Meadows, Vinton, Sunshine, Agua Dulce, Biggs Field, Mount Riley, Dairyland, East El Paso, Franklin Mountains State Park, West El Paso, Canutillo, Hermanas, Kilbourne Hole, Fabens, Camp Ramsey, Westway, Fort Bliss, Santa Teresa, Anthony and Clint.
“Hazardous travel,” comments the NWS. “Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
