Dubuque Fighting Saints grab extra point vs. Madison Capitols in overtime

The Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Madison Capitols tied 4-4 in regulation on Friday, April 10, 2025.

Dubuque beat Madison in overtime 5-4.

Dubuque’s Gavin Cornforth scored the game-winning goal.

The Capitols took the lead in the first period, with a goal from Mason Moe. Colton Jamieson and Ryker Lee assisted.

The Fighting Saints’ Cole Spicer tied it up late in the first period, assisted by Matthew Desiderio.

Four goals were scored in the second period, the score being tied at 3-3 going in to the third period.

The Fighting Saints took the lead early in the third period when Lucas Van Vliet netted one again, assisted by Cole Spicer and Cooper Dennis.

Mason Moe tied the game 4-4 with a goal three minutes later, assisted by Austin Moline and Ryker Lee. The game went to overtime.

In overtime, it took 4:33 before Gavin Cornforth scored the game-winner for the team, assisted by Josh Niedermayer and Lucas Van Vliet.

Both teams return to the ice on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The Fighting Saints take on Cedar Rapids at 7:05 p.m. CST at ImOn Arena, while the Capitols face Green Bay at 7:05 p.m. CST at Bob Suter’s LEGACY20 Arena Middleton.
