Update: Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude registered near Shima, Japan on Dec. 23

A 5.2 magnitude quake was detected close to Shima Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 09:44 UTC (18:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 334 km with the epicenter located roughly 160 km south-southeast of Shima.
