Colorado River placed under a fire weather watch Friday – enhanced fire threat

A fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 11:51 a.m. valid for Friday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Lower Colorado River.

Winds are expected to be northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity 6 to 11%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
