Champions today: Liverpool’s win over Tottenham sealed the title

5-1 at home against Tottenham got Liverpool over the line in the Premier League race. Tottenham are in 16th place in the league.

The Spurs took an early lead when Dominic Solanke netted after 12 minutes, with an assist by James Maddison, making it 1-0.

The Reds equalised to make it 1-1, as Luis Diaz found the net, with an assist by Dominik Szoboszlai, just four minutes later later.

Liverpool took the lead, when Alexis Mac Allister scored, in the 24th minute.

In the 34th minute Cody Gakpo increased the lead for Liverpool.

With 63 minutes on the clock, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah found the net following a Dominik Szoboszlai assist to increase their lead.

After 69 minutes Liverpool scored to make it 5-1.

The result means Liverpool have secured the title.

The win over Tottenham means that Liverpool have seven at home wins in a row.

The previous outing between the teams ended in a 4-0 home win for Liverpool in February.

Liverpool play Chelsea on 3 May, Arsenal on 10 May and Brighton (away) on 18 May. Tottenham’s next opponents are West Ham on 3 May, Crystal Palace on 10 May and Aston Villa (away) on 17 May.
