At 2:24 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch valid for Thursday between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek, San Luis Valley including Alamosa/Del Norte/Fort Garland/Saguache, Pueblo County including Pueblo, Huerfano County including Walsenburg and Western Las Animas County including Trinidad and Thatcher.
Expect winds to be for the Red Flag Warning Wednesday, southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. For the Fire Weather Watch Thursday, southwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph and relative humidity 5 to 10 percent.
“Extreme fire danger is expected. Fires will uncontrollably spread and be very destructive,” adds the NWS.
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
