The National Weather Service issued an updated blowing dust advisory at 3:19 p.m. on Tuesday in effect until 10 p.m. The advisory is for Western El Paso County, Salt Basin, Southern Hudspeth Highlands, Rio Grande Valley of Eastern El Paso/Western Hudspeth counties and Rio Grande Valley of Eastern Hudspeth County.
“Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected,” describes the NWS. “Subsequent Dust Storm Warnings may be issued for visibility less than a quarter mile.”
“Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” states the NWS. “Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. Remember, Pull Aside, Stay Alive. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.”
