The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch at 12:57 a.m. on Sunday valid for Monday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Baca County including Springfield and Eastern Comanche Grasslands.

Expect winds to be south 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 12%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” adds the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
