The first half was goalless, but straight after half-time, Marcus Rashford made his mark as he netted to give Aston Villa the lead.
Marco Asensio increased Aston Villa’s lead with an assist by Morgan Rogers, in the 78th minute.
Aston Villa further increased the lead as Donyell Malen found the net in the 90th minute.
Brighton are now in eighth place in the table, while Aston Villa are seventh in the league.
The previous meeting between the teams ended in a 2-2 draw, with Aston Villa at home in December.
