At 3:56 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued a dust storm warning in effect until 4:30 p.m. for Ector and Midland counties.
“At 3:56 p.m., a dust channel was near Midland International Air and Space Port, or near Midland, moving northeast at 55 mph,” states the NWS. “This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 112 and 142.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Midland, Odessa, Midland International Air, Space Port, West Odessa, Odessa Schlemeyer Field, Cotton Flat, Warfield, Midland Airpark, Skywest Airport and and Pleasant Farms.
“Dangerous life-threatening travel,” comments the NWS. “Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
