Aston Villa’s winning streak broken by Manchester City

Aston Villa have enjoyed a great period of success in the Premier League and ahead of the game away to Manchester City, Aston Villa had a run of five straight wins. But, Tuesday’s game at Etihad Stadium finished 2-1 and to end the winning streak.

The Citizens started the match well and took the lead when Bernardo Silva netted after 7 minutes, making it 1-0.

Aston Villa equalised to make it 1-1, as Marcus Rashford made his mark with a penalty, in the 18th minute.

The deciding goal came in extra time, when Matheus Nunes found the net for the Sky Blues.

With four games remaining, Manchester City are in third place in the table while Aston Villa are in seventh.

The previous outing between the teams ended in a 2-1 home win for Aston Villa in December.

The next Premier League games for Manchester City are Wolverhampton (home) on 1 May, Southampton (away) on 9 May and Bournemouth (home) on 17 May. Aston Villa play Fulham (home) on 2 May, Bournemouth (away) on 9 May and Tottenham (home) on 17 May.
