On Thursday at 2:58 p.m. a dust advisory was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 4:30 p.m. for Crowley, Otero and Pueblo counties.
“At 2:56 p.m., a dust channel was near Olney Springs, or 25 miles east of Pueblo Airport, and areas to the northeast,” adds the NWS. “Hazardous travel, especially on Highway 50 and Highway 96.”
Locations impacted by the advisory include Sugar City, Olney Springs, Crowley, Avondale, Ordway, Fowler, Boone and Pueblo Depot.
The NWS states, “Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
