At 2:13 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Thursday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for North Douglas County below 6,000 feet/Denver/West Adams and Arapahoe counties/East Broomfield County and Central and East Adams and Arapahoe counties.

Residents can expect winds to be west 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph possible, mainly south of I-70 and relative humidity as low as 14 percent.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” describes the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
