On Saturday at 6:41 p.m. a dust storm warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 7:45 p.m. The warning is for Glasscock, Howard and Martin counties.

“At 6:41 p.m., a wall of dust was along a line extending from 13 miles north of Midland to near Greenwood, moving northeast at 50 mph,” according to the NWS. “This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 152 and 193.”

Locations impacted by the warning include Sand Springs, Lomax, Coahoma, Stanton, Lenorah, Big Spring, Big Spring Country Club, Courtney, Forsan, Big Spring McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark, Knott, Stanton Municipal Aiport, Luther and Elbow.

“Dangerous life-threatening travel,” adds the NWS. “Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
