MACARACAS, Los Santos Province — A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near La Mesa at midday on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor jolted the region at 18:16 UTC (13:16 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 2 km east-southeast of La Mesa.

Last week’s tremor

One tremor with a magnitude 7.7 was registered in the area. It was recorded close to Pitaloza Arriba prior to this quake.
