Weather alert for fire danger in Northeast Georgia until Monday evening

Published Oct 19, 2026

A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Monday at 1:41 a.m. for fire danger until 7 p.m. The alert is for Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart and Elbert counties.

“Relative humidity will fall below 25% for much of this afternoon and wind gusts may reach 20 mph at times. Given the dry vegetation, outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started, increasing the danger of wildfires. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions,” states the NWS.
