5.3 magnitude earthquake strikes southeast of Easter Island on Oct. 10

EASTER ISLAND, Valparaíso — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred southeast of Easter Island on Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 21:34 UTC (15:34 local time), was centered southeast of Easter Island of southeast of Easter Island. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
