Update: Lake wind advisory affecting Augusta Metropolitan Area Saturday – gusts could peak at 35 mph

The National Weather Service issued an updated lake wind advisory at 10:39 a.m. on Friday valid for Saturday between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. The advisory is for Lincoln, McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond and Burke counties.

The NWS informs, “East winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph expected.”

“Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft,” adds the NWS. “Boaters on area lakes should use extra caution since strong winds and rough waves can overturn small craft.”
