POMIO DISTRICT, East New Britain Province — A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Kokopo on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 18:00 UTC (04:00 local time), was centered about 32 km south of Kokopo. It occurred at a depth of 94 km.
