OSHIMA DISTRICT, Kagoshima — A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Uken on Tuesday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 10:46 UTC (19:46 local time), with its epicenter roughly 88 km north-northwest of Uken and a depth of 10 km.
