At 4 a.m. Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center released its first advisory of the day for the system, reporting that Tropical Storm Fay is in the Atlantic Ocean, 570 miles southwest of the Azores. The system is moving to the southwest at 9 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

Fay is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone.
