On Sunday at 3:20 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated special weather statement until 5:15 p.m. for Central Colorado.

“At 3:20 p.m., Gusty winds in and near the windier downslope areas of the Front Range Mountains and Foothills will continue into late this afternoon and possibly early evening. This includes locations along the Peak to Peak Highway, Highway 93 between Boulder and Golden, and U.S. 36 from Broomfield to Estes Park,” states the NWS. “Gusty winds could knock down small tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Hazardous travel conditions can be expected for high profile vehicles.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Lakewood, Arvada, Westminster, southern Boulder, southwestern Broomfield, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Louisville, Superior, Trail Ridge, Idaho Springs, Nederland, Bear Lake, Winter Park, Central City, Empire, Jamestown, Ward and Black Hawk.

According to the NWS, “Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions.”

The full list of affected locations includes:

• Jackson County below 9,000 feet

• South and East Jackson/Larimer/North and Northeast Grand/Northwest Boulder counties above 9,000 feet

• South and Southeast Grand/West Central and Southwest Boulder/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Summit/North and West Park counties above 9,000 feet

• Larimer and Boulder counties between 6,000 and 9,000 Feet

• Jefferson and West Douglas counties above 6,000 feet/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Northeast Park counties below 9,000 feet

• Boulder/Jefferson counties below 6,000 feet/West Broomfield County
