Seismic activity on July 19: Earthquake near Vilyuchinsk, Russia recorded – magnitude 5.3

A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Vilyuchinsk at midday on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 00:39 UTC (11:39 local time), was centered roughly 190 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

Three tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above have been detected in the region during the past week. The largest one was a 5.1 magnitude earthquake that was registered in the same region on Jul. 15.
