Update: Fire weather watch issued for Colorado for Monday – gusts reaching 45 mph

At 8:48 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Monday between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. for Pueblo County including Pueblo, Huerfano County including Walsenburg and Western Las Animas County including Trinidad and Thatcher.

Winds are expected to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity as low as 6%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” comments the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
