Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake hits close to Isangel, Vanuatu on June 23

WEST TANNA, Tafea Province — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Isangel around midnight Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 13:58 UTC (00:58 local time), was centered about 120 km south of Isangel. It occurred at a depth of 22 km.
