Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Dunhuang, China on June 16

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Dunhuang on Tuesday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 11:14 UTC (19:14 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 262 km south-southeast of Dunhuang.

Tremors last week

Last week, there have been three tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby. The largest, measuring 6.3, slammed in the same region prior to this quake.
