At 11:38 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Friday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Jackson County below 9,000 feet and Grand and Summit counties below 9,000 feet.

Winds are forecasted to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 10%.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” adds the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
