The National Weather Service issued an updated weather alert at 3:09 p.m. on Tuesday for heavy snow until 4 p.m. for Central Colorado River Basin and Gore and Elk Mountains/Central Mountain Valleys.

“At 3:08 p.m., a band of heavy snow was over Gypsum, or 22 miles east of Glenwood Springs moving east at 15 MPH,” says the NWS.

This includes the following highways: Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 137 and 158. Colorado 131 between mile markers 1 and 7.

Expect heavy snow in Eagle and Gypsum around 3:15 p.m.

The NWS states, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
