A 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to South Sandwich Islands region on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 09:55 UTC (07:55 local time). The epicenter was of South Sandwich Islands region, at a depth of 51 km.
