A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 5:11 a.m. for strong winds until 8 a.m. for Eastern/Central El Paso County.
“Strong winds have developed ahead of schedule east of the Franklin, Organ, and San Andres Mountains early this morning. Expect gusts of 45 to 55 mph at times across Northeast El Paso, and even a few stronger gusts around the White Sands Missile Range headquarters area. Winds are expected to temporarily diminish after sunrise, but will increase again by midday, when a High Wind Warning goes into effect. Drivers should use caution, especially on north-south highways such as U.S. Highway 54 in Northeast El Paso,” according to the NWS.
