On Thursday at 10:50 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Saturday between noon and 7 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Kiowa County including Eads, Bent County including Las Animas and Prowers County including Lamar.
Winds are expected to be south 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 12%.
“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution and avoid any outdoor burning,” describes the NWS.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
