At 5:42 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Wednesday between noon and 7 p.m. for Kit Carson County.

Residents can expect winds to be northwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 11%.

“Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
