Update: Earthquake jolts region near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on Feb. 26 – 5.1 magnitude detected

A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Severo-Kuril’sk on Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the area at 07:04 UTC (17:04 local time). The epicenter was roughly 84 km south-southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk, at a depth of 43 km.
