A 5.0 magnitude quake was reported near Bantogon Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor struck the area at 06:52 UTC (14:52 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located roughly 53 km west of Bantogon. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.

Last week, there have been 14 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater centered nearby. The biggest, a 5.4 magnitude quake, was registered in the same region prior to this quake.
