AMBUNTI-DREIKIKIER DISTRICT, East Sepik Province — on Thursday around midday, a 5.0 magnitude quake was reported near Ambunti, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor rattled the region at 03:21 UTC (13:21 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated about 80 km west of Ambunti and occurred at a depth of 131 km.
