Update: Jan. 1 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake reported close to Port-Vila, Vanuatu

A 5.2 magnitude quake was registered close to Port-Vila Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 21:35 UTC (08:35 local time). It occurred at a depth of 139 km with the epicenter situated approximately 111 km south-southeast of Port-Vila.
