Update: Seismic activity on Dec. 27 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake near Izu Islands, Japan region registered

A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Izu Islands Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 17:44 UTC (02:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 46 km with the epicenter situated of Izu Islands.
