The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake jolted near Vilyuchinsk at midday on Monday.

At 01:32 UTC (12:32 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 35 km, with its epicenter approximately 175 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
