Update: Dec. 1 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Yuyapichis, Peru

PUERTO INCA PROVINCE, Huanuco — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake struck close to Yuyapichis Monday afternoon.

The tremor rattled at 23:26 UTC (18:26 local time), with its epicenter situated about 27 km west-northwest of Yuyapichis and a depth of 114 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
