Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 jolts area close to Kirakira, Solomon Islands on Dec. 1

AROSI SOUTH, Makira-Ulawa Province — Monday morning, a 5.1 magnitude quake was registered close to Kirakira, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the region at 20:05 UTC (07:05 local time). It occurred at a depth of 105 km with the epicenter situated roughly 58 km west-northwest of Kirakira.
